Signs of Life

Bok Choy in 6" pipe, growing fast!

Yesterday we finally got rain.  Not a mere 1/4 inch this time, but two storms each dropping 2 inches each, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  And last night, more rain.  I feel like we might be on the road to recovery with this dousing of moisture.  Over the past two months, members of the plant world seemed to sink into a dormancy, and this rain has awakened them.  Here are some photos of the garden coming back to life!

Newly planted squash under row cover.

Swiss Chard that I thought was dead is regrowing.

Zinnias, Peppers, Basil and San Marzano Tomatoes are happy.

Bush Yellow Wax Beans germinated!

Kale is ready to be transplanted and the wet ground will help them along.

Onions and Purple Kohlrabi almost ready to go in.

Even the greenhouse plants seem to have gotten a boost from the rain and break from the intense sun.

Big Heirlooms and Snowy Eggplant in the greenhouse.
