And so it begins!

Yay for asparagus, the first crop of the season around here!  It emerged on our wedding anniversary, April 21st, and has been going strong since.  We could practically watch it grow for the past 2 days, which were in the mid 80s.  I'm looking forward to some cooler weather after the predicted deluge on Friday and the cool season crops that are chugging along are as well.

Market starts this weekend!  We'll have a good selection of vegetable plants and some flowering plants as well.  Our goal this year is to focus on selling cut flowers and plants at the market, and veggies through our CSA program.  However, we will have asparagus this weekend and other veggies on other market days if they are abundant (and if we have time to pick them).

Speaking of cut flowers, we've been planting lots of different varieties.  Today poppies, scabiosa, sunflowers, snapdragons, larkspur and bachelor's button went in the ground.  We are looking forward to abundant and beautiful bouquets at the market this year.

Hope to see you there!
